It is part of the Classification 2 requirements. If Byte 8/Bit 1 is set to “1”, the following bits need to be considered “Reserved”: Byte 2, Bits 1, 2 Byte 4, Bits 1 to 4 Byte 5, Bits 1 to 5 Byte 7, Bits 1 to 8 Byte 8, Bits 2 to 8 Reserved bits must be set to “0” to allow “1” to indicate that newer facilities are supported. Since previous versions of the standard did not mention this, they were set to “1” as is customary for reserved bits. |
